sie wachen über dich
In “sie wachen über dich”, the collective what about: fuego brings their deceased grandmothers onto the stage to look into our future through their past and to test strategies of resistance against digital surveillance economies together. Societies have been monitored for a long time. But today we live in an economic system that feeds on our personal data, emotions, desires, and bodies. We ourselves have become the raw material of capitalism. In a multimedia performance, the collective examines how corporations profit from our data, predicting and influencing our (consumer) behavior.
Accompanied by cyberfeminist sounds from ultramorbidi, the performance raises the question: How can we use technology as a tool to escape surveillance capitalism?
