In sie wachen über dich, the collective what about: fuego brings their deceased grandmothers onto the stage to look toward the future through their past. Their experiences with state surveillance systems help shed light on current developments in digital surveillance economies.

Societies have long been under surveillance. But today, an economic system prevails that feeds on our personal data, emotions, desires, and bodies. Human experiences themselves have become the raw material of capitalism.

In a multimedia performance, the collective explores how corporations profit from data, influence behavior, and what global political consequences are associated with this. Accompanied by cyberfeminist sounds by ultramorbidi, the performers attempt to reclaim technologies and ask: What can we learn from the surveillance experiences of previous generations?
